Having a Space To Work

A space of one's own to work in is so important even if you are just a casual beader. One needs some quiet, free from distraction, with a strong level work top. If you are beading, you need a tray with an edge to keep your beads from getting away and becoming cat trophies on the floor.
That brings up another point. Cats and jewelry making don't mix. They want to "help" while you work, causing a lot of frustration, and possible hazard to them, depending on your medium.
What is great is a shop dog. My Rickey, s chihuahua -just Italian greyhound mix, is the perfect shop dog. He is low key, will sit in his own chair, and is not an attention hog. He enjoys my company, and I, his.
Another very important thing for jewelry making is good lighting. An Ott light can be your best friend. It will save you time and mistakes to have excellent lighting. Lastly, but never least are safety goggles. Wire breaks, glass can burst, metal can spring up, chemicals cause many issues. A pair of goggles, a face shield if you are using chemical, working with a torch or hot glass are a must. Gloves when handling wire and sharp metal.
So find your space and make beautiful jewelry.
